Custom or sham orthoses for Achilles tendinopathy treatment?

Do customised orthoses improve outcomes for chronic mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy?

This participant blinded, randomised controlled trial, examined the effectiveness of customised foot orthoses in chronic mid portion Achilles Tendinopathy. 140 participants, ages between 18-55 were prescribed eccentric exercises plus either customised or sham orthoses. There was no between groups difference in primary outcomes (VISA-A) at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.
