Running stability in barefoot and shod running

...what is the difference in the ability to adapt to small perturbations?

Local dynamic running stability, defined as the ability to compensate for small perturbations during running, is lower when running barefoot.

During an eight-week study, this effect was seen consistently throughout the entire study period, with no changes during the course of the study. Running stability also decreased within each fifteen-minute session.

Barefoot running induces lower running stability in both the short- (one session) and longer term.
